Shane Butterfield, Library Director

A native of northern Wisconsin, Shane attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (Bachelor’s degree) and the University of Rochester in New York (Ph.D) before beginning a career in higher education leadership, teaching at institutions such as Michigan’s Grand Valley State University and in the Texas A & M system, while later serving in administration at Upper Iowa University. Shane and his family have resided in the Elgin area since 2016, and, when away from his official duties, he enjoys drawing and
sketching, studying history, and following his favorite sports and teams. He assumed the role of Library Director in March 2024.
